Health and fitness is a vast field that offers variety of employment opportunities. Apart from being a physical strength trainer or a nutritionist, there are several other health and fitness jobs you can pursue. Here’s a detailed list:

1. Environmental Health officer
People specializing in environmental health monitor water and noise pollution, pesticides, toxic substances, and air quality. They are also required to carry out vector control, conduct inspections at restaurants and promote a healthy housing environment. The EH officer is also required to carry out research on a variety of topics such as communicable disease outbreaks, effects on human health from disasters such as storms and environmental toxins. There are only few professionals who are trained in this field. The growing tainted food outbreaks, failing waste water systems, viruses etc. indicate the need for more environmental health officers.

The salary range for trainees is $40,000 to $55,000 per year. For senior officers, it goes up to $96,000. Private sector jobs pay a higher salary then public sector jobs. Additional benefits include pension schemes, annual leaves and other fringe benefits.

2. Epidemiologist
They are professionals who study disease patterns within populations and attempt to explain them. This research is beneficial as it can lead to discovery of new methods of how to control these diseases. There are research epidemiologist and clinical epidemiologist. The former ones study data collected from different communities, while clinical epidemiologist perform consulting in health care field. When a disease outbreaks, an epidemiologist will be required to study the pattern, and recommend the best action of protection or prevention. They may also be asked to appear in TV and different publications to address the public about the best course of action.

The annual salary on average is $64,500. However, some senior positions can go up to $92,770 annually. The private sector consultants earn the highest at $78,860 on average per year.

3. Recreational therapist
Recreational therapists are responsible for improving the minds of patients by engaging them in recreational activities. The main aim is to teach patients how to live with an injury or disease. To maintain the overall well-being of patients, they design sports, games and craft activities. They may also organize group activities to integrate similar patients into a community. Recreational therapist work in community parks, medical institutions and specialized schools. They are required to keep up-to-date on the available therapeutic resources, which are best for their patients. They also track the progress of the patients over a period of time.

The average annual salary for a mid-level recreational therapist is $45,752 annually.

4. Spin instructor
Spin instructors are required to help students adjust their bikes. They have to teach the use of pedal straps, resistance controls, heart rate monitors and other equipment. The instructors are required to design a workout for different classes, and the workouts need to be customized depending upon different fitness levels of the students. To instruct a class, knowledge of uphill/downhill workouts is required as well. Other duties include keeping up-to-date with the latest fitness trends, and understanding the actual theory. They should have an understanding of diet and mental health as well.

Average salary ranges from $35,000 to $38,000 per year. Senior Spin instructions may earn around $60,000 annually.

If you still have to decide a career, you may choose the options mentioned above. Degrees can be pursued from different universities such as university of Saint Mary, San Francisco etc. College websites such as www.sanfordbrown.edu, wgu.edu and the likes offer health care degrees online, which can be pursued by international and local students from the comfort of their homes. More new health care and fitness fields will be created in the future.

Drinking a lot will make your brain go crazy. Just read about this in a magazine during I’m on a transit from Singapore to UK. Scientists have long recognized a link between anxiety disorders and alcoholism such as PTSD (post-traumatic stress disorder). People who drink heavily are at increased risk for traumatic events like domestic violence, car accidents, and other unusual activities that normal people don’t normally do.

Those things only partially explains the connection. There’s a new research using mice reveals heavy alcohol use actually rewires brain circuitry. Yep, it will jumble the wires (if there’s any) inside your gray matter. It will be really hard for alcoholics to recover psychologically following a traumatic experience.

Thomas Kash, an assistant professor of pharmacology at the University of North Carolina School of Medicine, said that “There’s a whole spectrum to how people react to a traumatic event,”. He added that “It’s the recovery that we’re looking at — the ability to say ‘this is not dangerous anymore.’

Their research shows that heavy drinking can cause a deficit with regard to the cognitive brain centers control the emotional brain centers. This research was published today, September 2, 2012, by the journal Nature Neuroscience. It was conducted by researchers at the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism.

Here’s the experiment. There are two groups of mice. The scientists gave one group of mice doses of alcohol over a course of one month. It’s equivalent to double the legal driving limit in humans. On the other group, they didn’t give any alcohol. Subsequently, they used mild electric shocks to train all the mice to fear the sound of a discreet tone. When the tone was repeatedly played without the accompanying electricity, the mice with no alcohol exposure stopped fearing it gradually. On the other hand, the group of mice with chronic alcohol exposure froze in place each time the tone was played. It’s like they’re really drunk. They still stopped and did nothing, even though the electric shocks were stopped. This is similar to what is seen in patients with PTSD. They have trouble dealing in emergency situations like this. It’s like, they don’t know what to do at all because they can’t concentrate.

The people who did the experiment traced the aftermath of differences in the neural circuitry of the drunk mice. Comparing the brains of the mice, researchers noticed nerve cells in the prefrontal cortex of the mice with chronic alcohol exposure. They actually had a different shape than those of mice with no alcohol exporuse.

Isn’t it amazing? So that’s why we shouldn’t drink heavily, just moderately.

Of all these years that you’ve been working so hard to live, have you ever started saving for the future? There would come a time that you’ll reach physical incapability and working is no longer doable. If a person was able to save, reaching this particular time is not something to be feared of.

For a common person, savings are most likely in a form of money in a bank account. It may be intended for a future use like inevitable health-related instances wherein money is of great need. Some savings are also intended for their children’s education while others are investments hoping that someday it will increase its value and add up to their present holdings. Savings are important, however you want to get a grasp on your expenses too to be sure you are saving. Many individuals overlook the insurance plans whether it be car, home, of life insurance. When you are shopping for auto insurance rates you want to be sure not to overlapped your expenses. For example you could have roadside assistance on your policy and not realize that you may have the plan on your credit card, such as Chase Sapphire. When you truly want to save then you have to look at your expense too and insurance is one area you could look when trying to save.

Savings are not always in a form of money. Some can be in a form of tangible objects like jewelry, furniture, paintings, authentic toys, and some other collectors’ items wherein values are appreciating as time pass by.

As people continue to save in their own way, their own country also has the responsibility in stabilizing the value of their own currency. Presently, majority of the global currencies are based on the value of US Dollars as it remains to be the most widely held currency in the allocated reserves. This particular issue entails an in-depth understanding and what remains clear is that US Money Reserve still dominates the market. That’s why, majority of the countries are having their savings in the value of US Dollars basically for security and stability purposes.

No one knows what the future brings and in whatever way you’re having your savings, this would forever play its role as your future saver. Saving is not something that can be done at a particular time, it has a start but it should not end as it should remain a continuous process so that you will be assured that you have something kept behind for future use.

Having great colleagues can keep you in a bad job longer than you should be, while working with awful people can make you a decent position with prospects – that’s how important your working relationships are.

However, if a working relationship goes wrong, from bullying to bitchiness to simply falling out, especially with superior, you may need to tread carefully to resolve it to avoid any lasting damage to your career.

Most companies have formal personnel dispute procedures but I think it is worth trying to clear up any discord yourself first. Examine the situation from all angles, including the other person’s, and make sure you understand how it came about and why.

Be honest with yourself about any culpability. Seek a private and quiet opportunity to talk to the person in question, placing the emphasis of the conversation on your hope to resolve the dispute, clear up any misunderstanding and find a way to continue working together productively and harmoniously.

Don’t talk to other workmates about the situation. If your personal approach doesn’t work, then seek advice from a senior member of staff or the human resources department. If it is a superior who is the problem, be aware that personnel’s loyalties may be primarily with the company and the bosses, so keep ‘asking advice’ not ‘seeking retribution’ as your official motivation in the first instance.

While the age-old game of bingo has evolved slightly in recent years by adding several new features and fun-filled patterns, one thing has remained the same for generations of avid bingo players that are now playing online bingo for money. There are plenty of chances to win some actual cold, hard cash – and longtime online bingo players certainly know this.

The fact is, that there’s genuine money to be made by playing online bingo for money – and the ever-increasing popularity of both, online bingo and online bingo web sites, speaks volumes of that.

In today’s modernized Internet-led times, avid bingo players have a multitude of opportunities to make money in various ways, so let’s take a look inside the business that bingo has recently exploded into for players that like to play online bingo for money.

Deposit Bonuses
Nearly every online bingo web site around has deposit bonuses that vary wildly depending on the numerous online bingo web sites, but basically, this is a good way for avid players to increase their chances of cashing in.

Most online bingo web sites offer players that sign up with them the chance to play for free with no deposit bonuses that allow new players to win real money without ever having to come out of their own pockets.

Jackpots and Special Prizes
In addition to the no deposit bonuses that are to be taken advantage of by all gamers playing online bingo for money, there are also a ton of bankroll-boosting jackpots and special prizes that can be won. Many online bingo web sites offer their players the chance to win some jaw-dropping prizes during these ‘special’ events, so doing your ‘bingo homework’ and looking for the most appealing prizes and jackpots is a necessity.

Raffles and Drawings
Another good way for people playing online bingo for money to increase their chances of bringing home the bacon is to participate in as many online raffles or drawing as possible. The good thing about raffles is the fact that the money players have in their respective accounts generally stays untouched for a raffle so it can be used for in-game play.

Promotions
Last but not least, if you’re playing online bingo for money, then you definitely need to know about your favorite web sites’ respective promotions. Most online bingo web sites often come up with special promotions that players can take advantage of that offer everything from chances to win extra deposit bonuses to discounted cruise trip vacations.

In the end, if you’re playing online bingo for money, just know that it’s a very cost-efficient activity that doesn’t take much monetary output, but could bring back a jaw-dropping return on little or no investment at all!

So have you decided on the product or service to be offered by your home-based business, registered your business name, secured all the necessary licenses, and are now all set to get started. But one more thing may still not be clear to you. How do you actually run a home-based business? Would it be more ‘home-based’ or more of a ‘business’?

Well, the answer is as long as you run your business like any self-respecting business owner, it really won’t matter much. After all, the people you’ll be dealing with – your customers and suppliers, in particular – generally won’t mind or won’t be able to tell whether you are a ‘regular’ business or a ‘home-based’ one.

In running a home-based business, you should then be minding these three important elements – professional image, time management and basic financial practices.

Professional Image

Your professional image will have a significant impact on your business and you credibility as a home-based entrepreneur. Don’t be tempted to neglect your image simply because you are working from home. Carefully cultivate an image that will enhance your professional self-esteem. If you truly feel like a professional entrepreneur, you should be running your enterprise professionally.

A dress code may not be necessary for home-based entrepreneurs, but when expecting clients and suppliers to come over and see you, make sure that you are dressed neatly and appropriately. Also, make sure that your home office is similarly neat and organized. If the space in your home is too limited to provide an area solely for conducting a business, you need to keep your entire home clean and uncluttered at all times.

Your clients will have reason to deduce that the way you keep your home also reflects the way you conduct business. A visit to your home office should therefore be as pleasant an experience for your clients as it should be for you and for those living in your home with you.

You also need to make yourself truly knowledgeable in your line of business and be perceived as such. Keep yourself updated about current developments in your industry by reading business and trade publications regularly, and make yourself conversant with issues that may be of interest to your customers.

Time Management

Entrepreneurs often cite the need for flexibility in their schedule and better control of their time as major reasons for wanting to be home-based. This doesn’t mean though that you can be as freewheeling as you want to be. If you make that mistake, you’ll soon find out that not keeping any schedule at all can lead you to giving either too little or too much to your home-based business.

The time you will need to devote to your home-based business everyday will depend on many factors. The most crucial of them are the following:

a.) Your role in the business – are you in it full time or part time?
b.) Your other responsibilities – perhaps you decided to set up a business at home so that you can spend more time with your family?
c.) The growth phase of your business – is it a start up requiring a lot of your attention, or is it already on ‘cruise control’ and needing but little attention from you?

Once you have determined how much time you need for your home-based business, stick to your schedule as much as possible. Do so despite the distractions that may come in the form of unexpected visits from friends and phone calls.

Entrepreneurs who go home-based are often natural whiz kids in multitasking. When you plan to multitask, though, be realistic. Make sure that not all the tasks require very high levels of focus. You can’t do two tasks that require intense concentration all at the same time.

Make sure, too, that those who live with you respect the time you need to run your home-based business. If there are business-related tasks that you can delegate, give these to them. It’s advisable to strike some arrangement with them beforehand, though; if need be, compensate them for their efforts. Being rewarded for these tasks is a great motivator and it definitely will elicit more cooperation and avoid resentment from the people you live with.

To manage your time really well, nothing beats careful planning and seeing a plan through. But remember that with you as your own boss, nobody else will enforce the plan for you but you yourself.

Basic Financial Practices

To succeed, a home-based business must focus more on running a business than running a home. This doesn’t refer only to keeping well-organized and up-to-date financial records, although that’s a very important aspect of any business. Instead, it refers to the larger aspect of fiscal discipline – practicing the good habits needed to keep the finances of the business distinct and separate from those who used to pay for personal and household bills.

Always keep in mind that the monies of your home-based business belong solely to the enterprise. You should never use the funds of the business for your personal needs; in no event should you dip into the petty cash of the business to pay for even the smallest household-related items. And make sure to maintain a separate purse for your family’s living allowance; this is one good way to avoid incurring unexpected but otherwise avoidable losses in your home-based business.

Here’s a very useful tip for avoiding misuse of the funds of your home-based business; make a standing agreement with your family members as to which bills would be paid for by the business. An accountant can tell you which of them may be considered as legitimate business operating expense.

One more thing: if you run a home-based business or any business that deals with products that can be immediately used or consumed – a home-based bakeshop, for instance – make sure that every item your housemates take from your stock is paid for. Otherwise, those unpaid items can be a big drain on your profitability.

Finally, as soon as you can, pay yourself a salary, even if it’s only minimal. This is a good deterrent against being forced to dip into your business coffers to pay for your needs.

These then are the three most important do’s and don’ts you should be vigilant about when running a home-based business. If you get these basics right, you can build your home-based business on a solid foundation and make it profitable like a regular business away from home.

Wallets are meant to hold money, but if there’s too much cash in there, the temptation to spend is also greater. If you know you’re the type of person who gives into impulse buys, only carry enough cash to cover that particular week’s scheduled expenses.

Too Convenient?

With the accessibility of ATM machines in shopping malls, having a bunch of ATM cards on hand is almost the same as having your savings at your disposal. One card for emergencies is okay but leave the rest at home.

Paper Trail?

Always ask that receipts be handed to you rather than dropped in the bag. Reserve a slot in your wallet just for them, and empty this out every weekend. Use the receipts to keep track of cash spent and of credit card bills to expect. Seeing your expenses printed out on paper can help curb your spending.

Card Counting

Ideally, the less credit cards you have, the easier to contain spending. If you have more than one, know their cut-off dates so you can maximize time in between payments, and carry just the one whose bill won’t arrive for a month.

Make Them Count

Now that you’ve cleared out space in your wallet, you can bring more of your discount and privilege cards around so you can maximize points earned and cash saved at favorite restaurants and shops.

When setting up an estate plan with your financial planner, expect him to protect your assets by including one or more trusts. They can be worth their weight in gold.

Few people clearly understand what trusts can do or just how they work. A trust can provide for you and your family, allow easy access to property, and help you avoid probate. But there are many different types of trusts, and they won’t all do what you want. You must be careful that your trust accomplishes your specific wishes, has all the necessary ingredients, and will do the job you chose it for.

Grasp the Basics of Trusts

A trust in its simplest form transfers assets from one person to another. It can bypass estate taxes, avoid probate, and revamp your life insurance to benefit your estate plan. A trust is one of the most flexible estate tools available today. It can do just about anything that’s legal and not contrary to public policy.

All trusts, from simple to complex, contain the same four elements:

- The donor or grantor is the person who creates the trust.
- The property includes all assets put in the trust. It’s sometimes called the corpus.
- The trustee is the person who promises to follow the donor’s instructions as set forth in the trust.
- The beneficiaries are those who received benefits from the trust.

Assign Your Assets

Any type of asset can be placed into a trust, from antiques and real estate to bank accounts, securities, or life insurance. But before you fill your trust, you’ll need to pick up someone to be your trustee. You can choose whomever you want, including yourself, your spouse, or your children.

After you decide on a trustee, you need to re-title your assets into the trustee’s name. If you go through the trouble of having a trust, and you don’t put your assets into it, it’s useless. As trustee of your own revocable trust, you can keep control over your assets.

Choose The Right Trust

Everyone’s needs are different, so talk to your estate planner about the trusts that are right for your financial situation. Here are the three types of trusts you may want to consider:

A living trust allows you to sidestep the time-consuming and public process of probate court. And you don’t have to be rich to have one. Even if your estate is small, you’ll benefit because a living trust will keep your estate in your loved ones’ hands – not the government’s. It also avoids probate if you become incapacitated for any reason, allowing you to change control of your assets in an organized, private manner.

A bypass trust allows your estate to bypass taxes. The trust is designed to kick in upon your death, allowing your spouse to have almost full use of all funds in the trust, Upon your spouse’s death, those funds would bypass his or her estate and go directly to your children.

A life insurance trust takes your life insurance out of your estate, allowing it to bypass taxes. To get the tax benefits, you’ll need to have someone else as the trustee. The trust is set up outside your estate, and you have no control over it. Upon your death, the proceeds go into the trust and are held for your spouse and children. It’s very effective and a wonderful loophole.

Well, first of all, without sounding too reminiscent of the playground, we should all cherish our best friends. These are the ones you can count on one hand. Feel blessed if you have more than one or two and don’t expect many friendships to reach this grade because it can take time, a lot of time, and it takes sharing, a lot of sharing.

It’s hard to be close to someone and care about them if you don’t know much about them, their lives or their feelings. Any reticence from them is likely to restrict you from being genuinely open with them so the relationship will never really drill down into deeper mutual support and affection. Sharing highs and lows, tears and tantrums and still feeling secure in someone’s regard for you is what really close friendship is all about. But it does take time – sometimes a lifetime. When it happens and the life currency between you is so deep, then such friends sort of transmogrify into family.

Cherish too the mentors and strong shoulders amongst your friends. Look for people you can provide the same sort of support to because you may not always be able to repay friendship in kind to the same people. Mentors need to be kept informed and appreciated, however modest they are. They will relish any of your success or triumphs and by nature have assumed a type of responsibility for your achievements. Always keep them in the loop and be very thankful!

Strong shoulders, on the other hand, are usually quite stoic about being the opposite to fair-weather friends. They know their place is in the stormy weather when they have to be rock-like to help you get through sadness and upsets. They are ready with the tea and sympathy and know just the right things to say to put smile back on your face.

Always have among your friends too some real life enhancers. You may have little in common with them, even despair at some of the things they do or say. But their ebullience and relentless good humor cheer along the days and enliven every encounter. And always try to have a wise and honest friend. This person may be different to all of the above – they may not know you very well and they many never become very close but they can be trusted to tell you the truth, however painful, and attach to it some advice tailored for you given in friendship.

Finally, and without wishing too frivolous about such important business – know your friends’ areas of excellence. I have friends I can ask about what I should wear, what should I read, how I should cook something, where the best deals are, where should I go on holiday or even who I can exercise with.
